The Lost Empire of Atlantis – History's Greatest Mystery Revealed

Thursday 20 October
The Electric Theatre 8.30pm £7 (£6 Friends of GBF, concessions) £11 joint ticket with Event 47

Was it a place of fiction, or did Atlantis really exist? And if it did, where was it and what brought about its downfall? Many theories have been put forward but none has been backed by indisputable evidence – until now. Through painstaking research, including recent DNA evidence, Gavin Menzies has pieced together a credible picture of Atlantis as the empire of the Minoans. This cultured Bronze Age civilisation traded as far afield as India and Britain, and he believes they even had the shipbuilding and navigational abilities to travel as far as North America.

Gavin's two previous books, 1421 and 1434, dealt with Chinese exploration, and were bestsellers around the world. His seafaring knowledge from his time as a submarine commander has again informed his investigations into the truth behind the amazing legend of Atlantis.
