Murder Lite

Saturday 22 October
The Electric Theatre 9.45am £6 (or book a whole day of crime for just £27)

Crime novels can be dark, brooding and scary ... or not. Nev Fountain (Dead Ringers, Have I Got News For You, Loose Ends) and Sam Leith (former Literary Editor of The Daily Telegraph, now writing for the Evening Standard, The Guardian, Spectator) see the funny side of murder and mayhem.

Nev's amateur sleuth, Mervyn Stone (a man with hair on the point of open rebellion), is still living off his past career as script editor of cult serial 'Vixens from the Void' and reduced to attending sci-fi conventions full of crazed fans. Unfortunately, he happens to stumble across murder wherever he goes...

In The Coincidence Engine, Sam has created a world so weird that Michael Moorcock described it as 'Philip K. Dick meets Evelyn Waugh'. It features a freak hurricane, a Directorate of the Extremely Improbable and a chaotic chase across an imaginary America, haunted by madness, murder, mistaken identity and a very large number of unhealthy but delicious snacks.
