A quirky unexpected delight
— Harper’s Bazaar

Campari for Breakfast is a heart-warming, eccentric and very British coming-of-age novel from much loved actress Sara Crowe, a quirky and exciting new voice in fiction.

In 1987, Sue Bowl’s world changes for ever. Her mother dies, leaving her feeling like she’s lost a vital part of herself. Sue’s mother always told her to make the most of what she’s got – and what she’s got is a love of writing and some interesting relatives. So Sue moves to her Aunt Coral’s crumbling ancestral home, Green Place, along with a growing bunch of oddballs and eccentrics. There she fully intends to fall desperately in love, write a book...and perhaps drink Campari for breakfast!

Sara Crowe is an actress who has worked on television, stage and film, including the iconic Four Weddings and a Funeral. She has won numerous awards including the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress. Sara’s West End appearances include Private Lives, Calendar Girls and Bedroom Farce. Sara lives in Surrey with her dog Nelly, working on theatre projects and dreaming up the world of Sue and Green Place. Campari for Breakfast is her first novel.

It is brilliant. Heart-rending sorrow, unremitting hopefulness and joy, held together by the delicious comic malapropisms of a startlingly original teenage heroine. An utter delight
