Terry Waite: Survival in Solitude

Sat 7 Oct
19:30 - 20:30
Holy Trinity Church
£20 (including wine and canapés)

Terry Waite spent almost five years in solitary confinement during which time he was deprived of all company, books and writing material.

As he was aware that doing without could lead to rapid mental deterioration, he had to devise ways of maintaining himself in a mentally healthy state.

One of the ways in which he did this was by exercising his brain by writing in his head. During the course of the evening he will discuss the conditions he endured and show some of his writings and reflections during this time of severe deprivation.
